Vigo (with. Laggio, Pelos e Piniè) 1650 inhab.
Settled at 950 m. of altitude it received its name by the roman " vicus" , village, in the XII century. Its territorie between 1848 and 1866 was the theatre of some battles for the italian indipendence against the austrian troops. Some churchs to visit are the St.Orsola with a relic of the saint and the St.Margherita. Another place to visit is the Historical Cadorin Library with many manuscripts and scrolls of historical value. In Christmas you can see in Vigo a beautyfull animated crib. From Piniè only by foot thasnks to the military street you can go to the top of the Mt. Tudaio.Here you can look at the beautifull view of Cadore and Comelico Valleys and you can visit the 2° world war military forts. Another place to see is Casera Razzo, 20 minutes by car from Laggio: from here you can make many mountain walking and in winter spend a day skiing. If you prefer , thanks to the initiative of some young boys of the village, during the summer events, you can try the driving experience of Quantya, the Swiss Electric Motocross Motorcycles. |
