Settled at the center of Cadore, its territorie is characterized by beautiful natural terrace of Pian dei Buoi , a beautifull green plateau at 1800 m. of altitude where the population uses from century to bring animals to pasture .
The village is very old, it has a roman origin and the first church was made in 1226.
Due to many natural disasters like earthquakes and fires the village was rebuilt many times and now almost all the houses are in bricks.
In lozzo you can visit the "Roggia dei Mulini" a walking near the torrent where you can see the rests of the ancient mills and the "Dairys Museum" with the old equipment for the production of cheese.
From the village you can move to Pia dei Buoi by car and from here make amazing trekking to Auronzo, Domegge, Grea Calalzo, to the Col Vidal II° world war military forts.Or if you prefer a relaxing walking the alpine huts of Baion and Ciareido are a must see with their local cuisine and one of the vest view of Cadore's valley.
